  1. Glucuronidation is the process of detoxification of chemicals in the body through the liver. Black pepper makes the walls of the GI tract more permeable, and if taken with Curcumin, the curcumin will pass right through to other parts of the body NOT the liver – thereby completely surpassing the Glucrunidation pathway, and completely surpassing the desired effect that Curcumin SHOULD have on the body.

Scientific studies will tell you that "Increased bioavailability" is most desirable: go ahead, add black pepper to your dose of turmeric. But increased bioavailability is not the goal we are trying to achieve with Curcumin and Glucuronidation. Curcumin is NOT meant to stay in your body for longer, or be everywhere in the body. Curcumin's goal is to detox harmful chemicals from the body as soon as possible via Glucuronidation in the liver. It's meant to be seen by the liver and only by the liver, not other tissues in the body. Of course Curcumin has a fast metabolism rate because it is READILY detoxing chemicals from the body. Don't try to outsmart nature.

  2. Thanks for the excellent videos on turmeric and curcumin and how to improve absorption and explanations re absorption role of liver etc. I did not know benefits of curcumin were so wide ranging. You might consider also mentioning the benefits of turmeric as a whole plant food vs curcumin and non curcumin compounds in turmeric. You give clear explanations and I like seeing the sea and amazing plants, mountains etc as a changing dynamic background. The video and sound quality are very good considering the videos are taken mostly outside using whatever video camera and microphone set up you have. I liked the infographic on all the benefits of curcumin.

  3. I'm a fan of Dr McDougall, and although he doesn't completely villify nuts and avocados, it's a shame he and others like him don't advocate the use of healthy, beneficial fats to increase absorption of certain foods, etc.
